Denied woman

The Iranian Revolution of '79 with the establishment of the Islamic Republic and with Ayatollah Khomeini as supreme leader, led to a radical change because it was based on a Theocratic government, that is, on the prevalence of religion over politics , on respect for the Koran as a source of law and sharia, the Law of Allah. But what does Sharia mean for Iranian women? Mainly possession, objectification of women, discriminatory and oppressive behaviors, because although the sharia recognizes the equality of men and women in the eyes of God, in real life, male authority over women is legitimized by a hadith (story) of the Prophet according to where the woman is imperfect in faith and intelligence and in essence, is in fact an "inferior" being.

The first use of the slogan "Woman, life, freedom" dates back to the protests in 2022 over the death of Mahsa Amini who was tortured and insulted for the improper use of the hijab (veil) imposed by law. Her death sparked the anger of the Iranian people and sparked a revolution led largely by young women and feminist movements calling for the end of the Islamic regime. Just like their protest gestures of removing the veil or cutting their hair as a sign of mourning, of sharing their pain and their dissent against the regime, I symbolically and provocatively muzzled the woman who protests so that no gag can silence and stop the sacrosanct rights of women and so that they can return to living a life worth living.
